Performing Rights Society

Refers to an association, corporation, or other entity that licenses the public performance of non-dramatic musical works on behalf of copyright owners of such works. E.g.; the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), and the Society of European Stage Authors & Composers (SESAC, Inc.).
